Basic Walkthrough

My first post on this site gives basic instructions about the game, but here I will try to list the tasks you should perform initially in some detail to give a new player a good start.  You will find a link to that comprehensive post always on the right side of the Main Site.

For example, in a section below that is headed as 'Breeding', you will find a very detailed set of instructions on the basic mechanism of breeding your Creatures.  This will be useful only to a new player.  Once you have completed the process once, you will know precisely what you need to do each time.

1.  Goals, Habitats, Creatures, Stone and Food

Always look at your Goals and try to complete them.  The game offers basic tutorials in the form of 'Goals'.  At first, it will tell you to build a habitat and place a Jackal in it, I believe.  It will try to persuade you to use a Speed-up to complete this task faster.  Resist.  Use your Diamonds (premium cash) wisely.   (To be honest, though, you will be reimbursed in the Reward.) The Jackal Habitat will be completed within a minute even without a speed-up.  The game then will instruct you to send a ship for Stone.  This is an essential component of the game.  You will need a lot of Stone for building.  All habitats use Stone as do other Buildings if they do not require Premium Cash to build.  You need to pay attention to the transport ships and always try to have one on its way on the river.

Food is another requirement.  You need Food to transform your infant or teenage Creatures into adults.  A Creature cannot breed until he/she is at Level 4.  Build a few Food Farms.  Later in the game, when you have restored the Mystic Pyramid, harvest of any food farm or habitat may give you Scarabs randomly as well as Food or Coins.  Scarabs are needed to play the Shuffle game in the Mystic Pyramid... but that is much later!

Food is an essential component of the game.  By feeding your Creatures, you gain Experience Points, allowing you to reach higher levels quickly.  A high level Creature does not have a better chance of begetting a rare Creature when bred but it will generate more Coins in the Habitat than the same Creature at a lower level.

The Statues are a method by which your Creatures can be 'fed' to reach first Level 15 and then Level 20.  More about that later.  This is an advanced option which you need not worry about initially. Level 10 is the default highest level for almost any Creature to reach.  There are one or two exceptions.

Once you have completed the initial Goals of building your first Habitat, buying and placing your first Creature, unlocking your first Ship and sending it on its way for Stone as well as building your first Food Farm and planting a Crop, your Goals will be based more on specific Breedings than anything else, although there are some that are related to Coin totals and such.

Goals all have Rewards in the form of Coins, XP and Diamonds.

Here is an example of the Goals list for a player who is mid-level:

More mature Creatures
Upgrade 5 Creatures to Level 10
  Rewrads: 10000 Coins, 500 XP, 1 Diamond

Horusobe
Breed Crocodile and Hawk until you get Horusobe.
  Rewards: 7500 Coins, 350 XP, 2 Diamonds

Flying Snakes Legend
  Breed and get Wadget
  Rewards: 2500 Coins, 1000 XP, 1 Diamond

More Level 10 Creatures
Own 15 Creatures of Level 10
  Reward: 35000 Coins, 1580 XP, 5 Diamonds

Note here that another player at the same level could have achieved all or none of these goals.  The player with these goals currently on the screen has bred Creatures that are far more difficult to obtain than Horsobe or Wadget in terms of probability but did not have these yet.  All breeding is random, after all.  I am including these Goals only as an example of the Rewards that one can obtain.

2.  Friends are important in this game as visits will alow you to collect rewards whenever you see the icon of an open hand over a neighbour's habitat and leaving a gift for a neighbour or friend will allow that individual to reciprocate.  Although gift exchange is not mandatory, it is a good way to obtain valuable rewards in the form of Coins, Stones, Food or Scarabs.  Ultimately, if you have real friends in the game or belong to a Club, you will find it easier to obtain gifts on a regular basis.  You can add any player from the Community Tab in the Socail Menu to your Friend List but you may find that many do not play the game actively and as there is a limit of 15 on the number of gifts you can send on any given day, you may find that sending gifts to random high level players who have their own friends will not result in a gift for you!

3.  Experience Counts.

Although the result of any Breeding experiment ALWAYS is random within the limits given by the game, your own Experience Level will unlock new Habitats and other options.  You gain Experience through the tasks and goals you complete.  One of the goals will be to bring a specific number of your Creatures to Level 10.  This is the maximum level allowed unless you have the appropriate creature Statue that will give you the ability to increase your Creature's Level to 20 when the Statue is fully upgraded.  Meanwhile, though, you actually can obtain the most difficult Creatures if your breeding pair is only at Level 4.  It is random!

4.  Know your Creatures

The Scoreboard that is found to the right of your Kingdom, sporting the Eye of Horus at the top, is very important.  When you tap on it, you will be given access to the Creature List.  The Creatures you have obtained in the past will be highlighted.  Those you have not obtained will be greyed out.  Moreover, when you tap on any Creature, you will see a description of it as well as the icons of the two parents needed to breed it.  There are exceptions to this in the form of the Sand Creatures and the Vizier.  Although they are shown in the Scoreboard, the only icon displayed is that of their species or habitat, to wit, Sand or Vizier.  This guide of mine, however, shows ALL the breeding pairs as well as Seasonal Creatures and Non-Breedable Creatures that are obtained only through Special Offers, the Mystic Pyramid or the Revive Pyramid.  Look above any post, including this one, to find tabs that are links to Breeding Charts.  One is for this game and the other is for Creatures of Olympus, a similar game with an Ancient Greek Theme.

5.  Optional Buildings

There are optional buildings in Egypt that either offer mini-games or an opportunity to obtain Creatures that you cannot breed in the ordinary way.  The buildings that can be unlocked are:

At Level 15, you can unlock and build the Race Course.  This is strictly a mini-game wherein you can race your own Creature against random opponents (game-generated rather than neighbours' Creatures) for prizes in the form of Stone, Food, Coins or Scarabs.

At Level 20, you can unlock the Chat Room.  This is far more useful than it might appear at first glance.  Although it may be fun to chat with random players in the Global area, and even useful to obtain game tips from them, it is the Club that is most important.  Join a Club or create one with your friends to obtain help with Speed-ups.  You can request speed ups for your Breeding, your Nursery/Kindergarten, your Food Farm, your Transport Ships or your Quarry.

At Level 25, you will unlock and can restore the Mystic Pyramid.  This is a mini-game where cards are shuffled.  Currency is in Scarabs that can be obtained in gifts, randomly by harvesting food farms or habitats or can be purchased with Diamonds.  With Scarabs, you can buy one card.  If when it is turned up, it displays the Creature in the Chamber that is currently open, you will obtain that Creature.  About half of the Creatures in the Mystic Pyramid cannot be obtained through ordinary breeding.

At Level 35, you will unlock the Sanctuary or Lighthouse.  It is here that you can sacrifice your extra Creatures for tokens of different colours.  If you build the Revive Pyramid, you can use those tokens to revive rare Creatures that cannot be obtained in any other fashion.

Breeding your Creatures
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Breeding Creatures is the fundamental point of the game and there are three steps to any Breeding experiment:

1.  Tap on a Breeding Nest or Breeding Castle to open the Creatures Menu.  Any Creature that is NOT in Inventory and has been fed to the point where it is Level 4 (adult) or higher will be available for breeding.  Choose Creature 1 and Creature 2 and then choose 'Breed'.  The two Creatures will be moved temporarily from their Habitats to the Breeding Nest/Castle and you will see how long the duration of the breeding experience will last immediately in a little icon that will appear over the Breeding Nest or Castle.   (The duration of any Breeding experiement is an indication of the identity of the resulting Creature.  Refer to the Breeding List page, located above every post as as tab.)

2.  When the Breeding time in the Nest or Castle reaches zero, the time will change to 'Completed'.  Tap on the Icon that shows the two Creatures to move the infant instantly to the Nursery/Kindergarten.  This is a building that will be on your Kingdom ab initio with a single cradle in it.  It can be upgraded to accommodate two cradles, allowing you to grow two different Creatures at the same time.  This upgrade is important to a serious player as some breeding experiences can take 2 days.  The time spent in the Nursery/Kindergarten will be of the same duration as the initial breeding time, which means that a Creatures that takes 2 days to hatch will have to stay in the Nursery for 2 days as well.

3.  When the Creature is grown to the point where it can leave the cradle, a little circle on the footboard of the cradle itself will flash.  Until then, you will see a green line gauge.  Tapping on it will give you the remaining time needed to grow the Creature to what the game calls 'teenage' stage.  You can use Speed-ups to decrease the time needed, as you can with the breeding time itself, but it is a waste of diamonds.  Be patient!

When the Creature is ready to leave the Nursery, tapping on the Cradle will open a menu that will give you two options:

Move
Sell

If, when you attempt to Move the Creature, you do not have a free slot in any finished Habitat, you will be forced to choose again, to 'Move' or Sell'.  If again you choose 'Move', you will have the option to move the Creature into your Inventory.  Ordinarily, between 'Sell' and 'Move', 'Move' is the better option for a couple of reasons.  First, you may be able to build another Habitat to house the Creature and you then can move it out of Inventory onto the Land.  If it is a new Creature, you definitely will want to make certain it can be housed somewhere on your Land.  Even if it is not a new Creature, any Creature in a Habitat will generate Coins.  As the game progresses, you can switch Creatures in habitats to make certain that you are housing the highest earners and placing them in the Habitat that will allow the largest maximum Collection of Coins.  But that is for the future...

Another option that is for the future is that of making a Sacrifice of your Creatures for Tokens that can be used to Revive rare Creatures.  This option is unlocked only when you reach Level 35 but if you have saved a number of Creatures in your Inventory, you will be in a good condition to Revive a Creature fairly soon afterwards.

After Moving your Creature into a Habitat, you should tap on the Habitat and then tap on the icon of the Creature in the Habitat to open a menu that will allow you to 'Feed' it.  All the food you have harvested from your Food Farms will be available and you need to feed the Creature at least until it reaches Level 4, which is the adult stage.  It can be raised to Level 10, making it the highest possible earner of its type until you unlock the Statues.   Statues are for a later stage, however.  At the start, feed your Creature first to Level 4 to be able to use it in breeding and then to Level 10 to allow it to generate the greatest number of Coins.

Scarabs
xxxxxxxx

You may obtain Scarabs in Gifts even before you unlock the Mystic Pyramid.  The gift will contain 30 Scarabs in those cases.  You will not SEE the Scarabs anywhere on your screen until you have unlocked the Mystic Pyramid.  You then will be able to use any Scarabs in the Shuffle Game.

Although the first two Shuffles do not cost much, if you do not win the Creature immediately, the cost will increase.  Some players say that you have only ONE chance to obtain them.  The doors when they shut, close forever.  I will have to confirm this in another game.

Scarabs are found randomly in collections from habitats, harvests of food and gifts.  If you are involved in trying to obtain a Creature, my advice is to grow the shortest term harvests on your Food Farms, and collect as frequently as possible.  You are as likely to obtain Scarabs in a harvest of Wheat as Onions for example, but the Wheat can be harvested almost immediately.

The Race Course is another potential source of Scarabs, although again, everything is random and the prizes may not include Scarabs at all.  When they do, however, the total can be anything from 25 to 200 Scarabs.

Again, the number of Scarabs collected from ANY source apart from the Race Prizes always is 30.

Here is a tip from Pharaoh Dave about the Mystic Pyramid and the collection of scarabs.  New players will not understand perhaps when they receive Scarabs in a gift because they cannot use them for anything at that early stage in the game, but you actually may need thousands of Scarabs if you wish to collect every Creature from the Mystic Pyramid without spending Diamonds to do it.

Pharaoh Dave suggests that you WAIT before you begin to play the Shuffle game.  Do not open any Chamber too quickly because once you do, each will expire after 6 days and you may find the cost of obtaining some of the Creatures prohibitive.  The Shuffle game always is random, despite the claims of some players as to the location of the Creature on the board.  In fact, it can be ANYWHERE.  By collecting as many Scarabs as possible BEFORE you open the first Chamber, you will be in a good situation to play using only Scarabs in case you are not fortunate enough to find the Creature initially or quickly.  The cost of turning over the next card quickly escalates!

The only potential problem with this strategy is the introduction of a Seasonal Creature which usually will occupy the LAST chamber.  If you have not opened the other Chambers previously, you may not have access to the seasonal Chamber.

 Mystic Pyramid
xxxxxxxxxxxxxx

I have written about this option in another post on this site, but it is here that you can play a mini-game called Shuffle to win rare Creatures by betting Scarabs.   A number of the Creatures in the Mystic Pyramid can be obtained by breeding.  If the door opens to one of THESE Creatures, I suggest you ignore it and allow it to expire.  Breed the Creature instead.  The following are the Creatures that CANNOT be bred:

Sekhmet
Horunaje
Meretseger
Tefnut
Apis
Tahallah

The one Creature that may be in a different category from all the others is Horinama.  This is what is known as a seasonal creature which means that it will appear in the ordinary Market in the Creatures section during a specific season of the year.  ANY Creature that appears in the Market can be bred when it is in the Market.  In other words, you CAN breed Horinama yourself but only during that season.  That being the case, however, it is not necessary to use your valuable Scarabs to win this Creature.  Save them for the ones that never can be obtained in any other fashion.

In the Mystic Pyramid, a door will open to reveal a Creature only for the period of one week.  You must win that Creature within that time period before the door shuts and the next one opens.  If, however, you do not win the Creature and the door shuts, you will have the opportunity to purchase the Creature outright for 650 Diamonds.  While the door is open and you are playing Shuffle, you always can purchase the Creature for Diamonds and in most cases, the amount of Diamonds needed will be less than 650 as every Shuffle with Scarabs brings down the price until you reach a price that is between 400 and 500.   Once the door shuts, the price goes up to 650 so if you are willing to pay Diamonds for the Creature, it is better to do so before the door shuts.

Shuffle price increases with each Shuffle.  There may come a point where you have insufficient Scarabs to bet and have to choose whether or not to pay Diamonds to BUY Scarabs.  I have found that this is a better option than purchasing the Creature outright but it is luck and nothing more.

Many players swear that it is more likely you will find the Creature on the outer limits of the Shuffle table or in the very centre but actually it IS random.  I have found that when you have a Chamber open, THAT Creature will be situated repeatedly in the same rows for the most part, but it is random and choosing the RIGHT card still can be troublesome.  There have been some situations where a Creature was buried in third row of the Table or another inside position for example and seldom moved to the corners or even to the very middle where some players find it frequently in their Shuffles..

Unlocking Underworld Habitats
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

I did not log early requirements but:

Frog Habitat unlocks at Level 33
Bennu Habitat unlocks at Level 40
Ha Habitat unlocks at Level 45

Below, I have created a blow-by-blow account of a new Kingdom with all early goals and new options that were unlocked.

New Kingdom Tutorial aka Actual Walkthrough
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Note:  I created a new kingdom on an old device to see if I could log the levels at which the early new options appeared.  The following is the result:

Build a Habitat
This is your first Goal.  Tap Shop button to build new habitat
You will see:  Creatures, Habitats, Buildings, Decor, Inventory

Choose Habitat and choose the Jackal Habitat for 100 Coins.
Choose Buy and then place it anywhere you like.

Speed Up
  Let's speed up building process.
Ignore this prompt!  It takes only a minute to build the Jackal Habitat.  The minimum cost for ANY speed-up, even one for a few seconds, is 1 Diamond.  That is premium cash wasted!

Complete Building
  Complete Building and claim exp.

By tapping on the building, you complete it.

Level up!  This takes you to Level 2.

First Creature
Now let's buy your first creature.

Go to the Market, choose Creatures, and choose the Jackal for 100 Coins, then place it in the Habitat.

Feeding Creature
Time to feed your Creature to make it grow.
  Reward: 200 Coins, 5 XP

Tap on the Habitat and a menu will open.  You will see an icon of each Creature currently in the habitat.  Tap on the Jackal and you will see a Feed Bar beneath its portrait.  Tap on it repeatedly.  You need to grow it to adulthood, which is Level 4.

Level Up:  You now are at Level 3.

Almanac
See your Creatures in the Almanac.

This is a building to the right of your kingdom that looks like a socreboard with an Eye of Horus at the top.  Tap on it to access the list of Creatures.  Any Creature you have obtained will be highlighted and all others will be greyed out.

Food for Creatures
Build a farm to grow food for your creatures.

Go to the Shop, go to Buildings and choose the Food farm for 50 Stone.  You began the game with 900 Stones.  Buy the Farm and place it anywhere.  The prompt will suggest a speed-up but ignore this.

Grow Food
Tap on the farm to seed crops
The Food Menu will open, giving you the following choices:

  Wheat: 5 Food
    45 Coins, 30 seconds

  Lentils
  25 Food, 5 minutes

  Corn
    85 Food, 30 minutes

You can upgrade your Food Farm for more choices.

The game will prompt you to speed up the growth but resist.

Harvest
Tap the Farm to harvest your Crops.

Hire a Ship
Time to buy a ship to get stone from carriers.
Price of first ship: 50 Stone

The game will prompt you to use speed ups but again resist.  It only takes a minute to build a ship.

Complete Building and claim XP.

Buy Stones
Go to map to send your ship to stone carriers.

Tap on the Ship and open the map, then choose a destination
  You will have the following:

Saqqara: Price 150 Coins, 25 Stone, 30 seconds

Helwan: Price: 750 Coins, 100 Stone, 5 Minutes

Again the prompt to use speed ups, ignore!

At this point, you may see a one=time offer for 10000 Food, 50 Diamonds and 50000 Coins for 2.99.  It is well worth the price.

Follow Goals.

Now you can access the Goal MEnu at your leisure.  It will contain the following:

Build a Cat Habitat
  Reward: 5 XP

Time for a Cat
  Buy a Cat and place.
  Rewards: 250 Coins, 5 XP, 75 Food

Grow your Cat
Feed and upgrade Cat to Level 4
  Rewards: 350 Coins, 20 XP, 30 Food

Harvest Wheat
  Harvest Wheat 3 times.

Breeding Temple:  Unlocks at Level 20

Jackal Shrine:  Unlocks at Level 30

Cat Shrine: Level 30

Serpent Shrine: Level 30

Croc Shrine:  Level 30

Human Shrine: Level 30

Hawk Shrine: Level 30

Revival Pyramid:  Level 35

At Level 3, the maximum number of Habitats you can place is 4.  You can have 3 Food Farms and only 1 Ship.

Clearing the Land
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

This will be listed in your Goals but you can clear rock formations, ruins, Trees, Bushes and Weeds from your land at any time.  Reward is XP.

At Level 4, you will gain a ship.  You therefore can have 2 Ships at Level 4 and you will unlock the Serpent Habitat.

Serpent Habitat: 500 Stones, 60 XP
  Takes 6 hours to complete

The next goal may be clearing the land:

Expand your Territory
  Clear 3 Small Bushes
  Reward: 350 Coins, 15 XP

Each small Bush requires 50 Coins to clear.

Unfortunately, having played the game before, I simply went ahead and bought a Breeding Nest before it appeared as a Goal.

As a Goal:

Breeding Nest Goal
  REward: 10 XP, 40 Stones, 1 Diamond

Breed Cat with Jackal
Tap Breeding NEst then tap Heart Icon from bottom menu to breed
  Rewards: 400 Coins, 10 XP, 1 Diamond

Level 5: You gain another habitat, so you now can have a total of 5 Habitats.

New Goals:

Send Ship
Send ship to Saqqara Carrier and claim stone
  Rewards: 500 Coins, 2 Diamonds

Time for second farm
  Buy your 2nd Farm
  Rewards: 250 Coins, 5 XP

To level up quickly, feed your Creatures to higher levels.  Feeding the Jackal to Level 7 brought me to Level 6 instantly.  This gives you another Food Farm.

At Level 6, therefore:
  5 Habitats
  4 Food Farms
  2 Ships

Leveling the Cat to Level 6 brought me to Level 7, where you obtain another Habitat.

Thus, at Level 7:
  6 Habitats
  4 Food Farms
  2 Ships

Bringing the Cat to Level 8 brought me to Level 8.  Leveling the Jackel up to Level 8 took me to Level 10.  Leveling Jackal to Level 9 took me to Level 11.

At Level 11, you are given another habitat and 1 more ship.

So, at Level 11:

8 Habitats
5 Food Farms
3 Ships

Furthermore, the Crocodile Habitat is unlocked.

Crocodile Habitat
  4500 Stones, 1750 XP

Breed Jackal with Cat Goal can have a number of different results.  The most likely will take only 30 minutes.

At Level 11, the Map destinations will have expanded to include the following:

Saqqara

Helwan

Dahshur: 1500 Coins, 30 minutes for 150 Food

Lahun: 2000 Coins, 30 minutes, 250 Food

The next destination of Herakleopolis unlocks at Level 12
Beni Hasan unlocks at Level 13

New Goal:

Harvest Lentils
Harvest Lentils 2 times in Farm
  Rewards: 400 Coins, 125 Food

Special Pack
Only Chance to Get
Nut Skygod 4.99

Bought 2nd Ship, Bought Crocodile Habitat and went to Level 12.

Crocodile Habitat takes 12 hours to complete

To upgrade your Nursery/Kindergarten, you must pay 10 Diamonds.  It takes only 10 seconds to complete the project, which consists of placing a second cradle in the existing building.

Is it essential to perform the upgrade?  Well, no, it is not essential but as you progress, you will find that many of the Breeding Projects take a long time to complete.  The time spent in the Nursery is equal to the time spent in breeding, so a cradle may be occupied for two entire days.... having two cradles does make the game more interesting.

At Level 13, you gain another habitat.  and at Level 14, another, giving you a total of 9.

Breedings with Jackal and Cat
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Although the actual results of any Breeding experiment are random, there is a short list of Creatures that can be obtained with a Cat and a Jackal.  The time each takes determines the identity of the result.  Here are the possibilities:

Anumau:  Breed time: 30 Minutes
Mauasha: Breed Time, 25 Minutes
War Horse: Jackal and Cat, Breed Time, 1 day
High Priest Jack-a-Roo, Breed Time ?

Other Goals
xxxxxxxxxxx

These are goals I completed incidentally before they appeared so I have only the rewards:

Better Farm
Upgrade one of your farms to Level 2
  Rewards: 500 Coins, 75 Food, 50 Stone

At Level 15, 1 more Habitat, 1 More Food Farm

At Level 15, I noticed that, although I had been able to purchase all the habitats that had been unlocked, apart from the Sand Habitat, I really was unable to take full advantage of all the new breeding possibilities as I had only the original Breeding Nest, occupied by a single breeding experiment.  Yes, I had upgraded the Kindergarten/Nursery in order to be able to have two immature Creatures at the same time within it, but with a slow Breeding project in the Nest, there was nothing I could do, unless I were willing to spend Diamonds on speed-ups.  I do not recommend this course to other players, so would not use it myself at this point...  It is only at Level 20 that the Breeding Castle is unlocked and THAT is the reason to save your Diamonds!  You will need premium Cash to purchase the Breeding Castle.

Need Corn Goal

Optional Buildings Levels
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Race Course can be recovered at Level 15
Chat Room can be recovered at Level 20
Mystic Pyramid can be recovered at Level 25
Sanctuary (Lighthouse) can be recovered at Level 30

The Second Kingdom in the form of the Underground can be opened free of charge when you have obtained a total of 30 Creatures.  With only 4 Creatures, the cost of opening it would be 416 Diamonds.
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

The Underground or 2nd Kingdom
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Unlocking the Underground or 2nd Kingdom is not determined by your Level but by the number of Creatures you have obtained... you can PAY to unlock it if you haven't obtained sufficient Creatures but this would be counterproductive.  The fact of the matter is that the Underground is extremely expensive compared to the 1st Kingdom.  If you haven't obtained sufficient Creatures to unlock it without paying, you probably have not amassed sufficient Coins or Stones to build anything there!

The first Creatures available in the Underground are the Scarab and the Serpopard.  Here are the costs for embarkation upon the Underground:

Scarab Habitat: 135,000 Stone

Scarab: 750,000 Coins

Serpopard Habitat: 270,000 Stone

Serpopard: 2,500,000 Coins

The Nursery/Kindergarten will be in situ when you unlock the 2nd Kingdom but you will have to purchase and build a Breeding Nest for 300,000 Coins.  It will take only a minute to complete.

Now you can breed your first Underground Creatures.  The Creatures that can be bred with this combination are:

Serpokhep:
  Sells for 100,000 Coins

Khepropard:
  Sells for 150,000 Coins

Scaropard
  Sells for 200,000 Coins

The reason I am giving their selling prices is that, once you fill your Habitats, you probably will be in a position to breed more of these before being able to afford the next Underground Habitat.  Unlike Egypt, the 1st Kingdom, where it is worth your while to SAVE all your extra Creatures in your Inventory in order to be able to use them as Sacrifices, Underground Creatures are not available for Sacrifice.  They are a good source of Coins, however, when sold, as you can see.

The next Habitat is the Scorpion Habitat which is even more expensive:

Scorpion Habitat:  450,000 Stones

Scorpion: 5,000,000 Coins

At Level 45, you will unlock the Ha Habitat.

At Level 47, you will unlock the Sorcerer Habitat.
  Cost is 1,900,000 Stones

You can upgrade the Sorcerer Habitat to house an additional two Creatures for 2,500000 Stone.  The upgrade takes 2 days to complete.

What you choose to do here is your own business.  Age of Pyramids is not a game that you win or lose.  Apart from some of the options, like the Mystic Pyramid that have time limits once activated, for the most part you have all the time in the world to expand your game and raise your Levels.

The Sand Habitat and Vizier Habitat in Egypt are the most expensive.  Sand Habitat costs 650,000 Stones and Vizier requires 700,000 Stones.  Whether you prefer to build these before building any Habitats in the Underground is your own choice.  There is no right or wrong way to play this game.  I do think that the first Building you should complete in the Underground is the Stone Quarry, however.  It generates the following:

10,000 Stone in 6 hours for 200,000 Coins
20,000 Stone in 12 hours for 400,000 Coins

Contrast this with the Ship Transports in Egypt where the most you can obtain in 6 hours is from Hermopolis for 20,000 Coins giving you only 2000 Stones.  If you wish to wait an entire day, you can pay 200,000 Coins to obtain 20,000 Stones.  Send your ship to Thinis for 2 days for 400,000 Coins to obtain 40,000 Stones.  If price is a consideration, yes, the ship transport gives you more Stones for each Coin spent but the time it takes is longer.
